Vandana Shiva

Vandana Shiva is an intellectual and eco-activist from India who has worked in a wide range of different fields, inspiring change globally. Her activism is rooted in promoting counter-development and supporting grassroots networks, women's rights and ecology. As the author of several important books and articles, Shiva has demonstrated a lifelong interest in campaigning against genetic engineering and the negative effects of globalization, advocating for the vital importance of biodiversity. 

The documentary film "The Seeds of Vandana Shiva" tells the remarkable life story Vandana Shiva, how she stood up to the corporate Goliaths of industrial agriculture, rose to prominence in the food justice movement, and inspired an international crusade for change. The film will be screened outdoors on the opening night of BOTANIK.
